Specialist Caseworkers
Caseworkers provide an effective and efficient specialist advice service on Welfare Benefit, Debt and Employment issues. Caseworkers specialise in a particular field and deal with the more tricky and complex issues our clients bring to the bureau. The role is performed by volunteers or paid bureau staff. As a caseworker you would:
  • Act for the client where necessary by negotiating with third parties, drafting or writing letters
  • Ensure income maximisation through the take up of appropriate benefits
  • Prepare and present cases to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts
  • Maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of casework and report preparation
  • Provide advice and assistance to other staff across the Trafford Borough
  • Identify and proactively escalate social policy issues
As a caseworker you need to have achieved adviser core competences and have:-
  • Knowledge and experience of welfare benefits, debt or employment advice giving
  • Be a good listener, able to shift through and extract relevant information
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with particular emphasis on negotiating, preparing reports and correspondence
  • Ability to prioritise own work, meet deadlines and manage caseload
  • Work as part of a team.
